CHARLIE PARR

In the music of Charlie Parr, there is a sincere conviction and earnest drive to create. Parr is a folk troubadour in the truest sense: taking to the road between shows, writing and rewriting songs as he plays, fueled by a belief that music is eternal and cannot be claimed or adequately explained. The bluesman poet pulls closely from the sights and sounds around him, his lyrical craftsmanship built by his influences.

With a discography simultaneously transcendental in nature and grounded in roots music, Charlie Parr is the humble master of the 21st century folk tradition. Parr started recording in Duluth in 2002, where he lives today. Life in the port town on Lake Superior has a way of bleeding into his work the same way his childhood in Austin, Minnesota does. Parr’s music has an overwhelming sense of being present and mindful, and his sound is timeless.

Parr’s mastery of his craft is only more apparent when contextualized within the history of folk tradition of which Parr has dedicated his practice The land and lives around and intersecting with Parr have always influenced him, from the hills and valleys of Hollandale, Minnesota to the Depression-era stories from his father. Parr strives to listen to everything: “I don’t see that I’d ever be capable of creating anything if it weren’t for these inspirations and influences, books and music as well as the weather and random interactions with strangers and animals. So, the well never runs dry as long as my eyes and ears are open,” Parr said in a 2020 interview

JOHN TILL

John Till is a singer-songwriter from Bloomington, IL. He cultivates folk, blues and country from the farthest reaches of the Great Plains to the Appalachian foothills, down to the delta and back up to Chicago for a sound that's equal parts pastoral and main street charm.

Things To Know Before the Show

  • Food: Our wood fired pizza will be available by pre-order only to all ticketed guests. More info will be sent via email a few weeks before the show.

  • Drinks: Locally crafted beer, wine, cider and soda are available for purchase. No BYOB. Free still and sparkling water are available. We ask that all guests drink responsibly and plan ahead for a safe ride home from the show.

  • Parking: Parking will be available in our pasture parking lot. It’s a short walk on a grassy trail and up a small hill to the show. We are not able to accommodate campers, buses and other large vehicles.

  • Weather: We are planning to host the show under our new 40x60 open air pavilion. The show will go on rain or shine.

  • Camping: Sorry folks. No camping is permitted on the grounds of Luna Valley Farm the night of the concert. There are many great places to stay in the Decorah area, including these.

  • Accessibility: New concrete connects the pavilion, restrooms and bar area. Contact us in advance if you or someone in your group may need closer/more accessible parking or to be dropped off near the concrete so as to avoid uneven terrain.

  • Trash/Recycling: Please pack all trash and recycling out with you when you go.

  • Kids: We LOVE kids and really enjoy seeing them enjoying our farm! This is a working farm and there are hazards so please keep your kids close.

  • Pets: We love animals but ask that you leave yours at home.

  • Smoking: Absolutely no smoking on the grounds of our farm.

  • Fences: Assume all fences are electric. (Don’t touch ‘em!)

  • Refunds: Sorry, we’re not able to issue them. Tickets are limited and we expect a sold out show.

We look forward to hosting you and will send an email before the show with more information!

CELEBRATIONS AND GATHERINGS DURING PUBLIC PIZZA NIGHTS

We love providing the pizza, drinks and open air space for small casual gatherings as part of our regularly scheduled pizza nights. (Emphasis on the word casual). This can work well for groups of 10-60 people.

We look forward to welcoming your group to the farm this season!
Keep us in mind for the following celebrations:
- Wedding rehearsals
- Anniversary parties
- Birthday parties
- Retirement parties
- Family reunions
- Customer appreciation dinners
- Employee appreciation dinners
- Graduation parties

What We Can Provide:
- Casual outdoor dining experience
- Advance access to booking a specific reservation time for your group
- Wood-fired pizza and drinks
- Use of one (or two) of our long picnic tables (each table seats 24-36 guests, depending on which size you choose)
- Cover under a portion of our beautiful new 40x60 pavilion

What We Ask:
- Pack out all trash and recycling (and make sure your guests understand this policy too)
- Bring things like plates, utensils and blankets for your guests (if desired)

Other Considerations:
- You are absolutely welcome to bring these things to accompany your pizza: cake, pie, cookies, snacks for kids
-
We are strict about our no outside alcohol policy. No BYOB.

Rain or Shine: All reserved tables will be placed under our 40x60 covered pavilion in case of rain (or sun).

Accessibility: Our newly poured concrete has significantly improved accessibility and movement between the pavilion, restrooms and pizza lean for guests with mobility limitations. If you have a guest in a wheelchair or using a walker or crutches, you are welcome to drop them off at the pavilion so they can avoid traversing grass and gravel.

Table Options
-
Large Table: Seats 36 (full) or 15-18 (half): $60 / $30
- Medium Table: Seats 24 (full) or 10-12 (half): $50 / $25
*You have the option to reserve two tables if your group size requires two.

Table Reservation Timing and Payment
Before making plans please complete our group reservation request form below. To best accommodate you, we’d love to hear from you at least two weeks before the date you plan to come out (ideally sooner as some dates fill up quickly). After you complete this form, we will send you an invoice for your non-refundable table reservation (Large Table: $60 Full / $30 Half OR Medium Table: $50 Full / $25 Half). Table reservations are for 1.5 hours. You are absolutely welcome to clear off your table and hang out at the farm longer.

Pizza Order and Payment
We will email you with the menu approximately one week before you come out and will take your order electronically. Our preference is for all pizzas to be paid on a single bill at the register on pizza night. Drinks can either be part of the pizza bill or guests can pay separately, according to your preference.

Are you required to make a group reservation and pay extra for a reserved table?
Absolutely not. You are more than welcome to make your reservation/order pizza for your small group starting at Noon the Monday before the upcoming weekend. The table reservation system is just something we developed for guests wanting a guaranteed place to sit and pizza at a certain time. Other seating is first come, first served and you are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs for a picnic style experience.
